About Samaritans Leicester

Since opening in 1964, Leicester Samaritans has provided over 400,000 hours (or 24 million minutes) of unbroken service to the people of Leicestershire & Rutland & beyond. Around 150 volunteers provide confidential, emotional support to anybody experiencing feelings of distress and despair or who feel suicidal. The first year we were open, we took 900 calls. By 2010, that figure had increased to 41,000 calls, visits and emails a year.
