About CCHS - Congenital Central Hyperventilation Syndrome

Congenital Central Hyperventilation Syndrome (CCHS) is a rare lifelong and life threatening disorder. It affects the central and autonomic functions of the body such as heart rate, blood pressure and sensing of oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the blood, temperature, bowel and more. The most recognised symptom is the inability to control breathing especially when asleep results in patients to need mechanical support. Currently there is no cure.
