Classical Opera

Under the adroit leadership of Artistic Director Ian Page, Classical Opera has become internationally renowned for high-quality performances and imaginative programming, and is now one of the world’s leading interpreters of Mozart and his contemporaries. The company regularly delivers innovative and illuminating performances, often reviving rare or previously unheard music from the Classical period. With its own period orchestra, the company comprises some of the most accomplished players in the field, and combines musical flair and excellence with a vibrant spirit of discovery. Classical Opera performs regularly in London at Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall and the Barbican, and tours whenever possible. In addition to its on-going concerts and recordings, Classical Opera recently launched MOZART 250, described by The Observer as, ‘Among the most audacious classical music scheduling ever.’ MOZART 250 sets out to explore the music that was being written by Mozart and his contemporaries exactly 250 years previously. Over the next 27 years, Classical Opera aims to re-tread the steps of musical history, celebrating the life of arguably the greatest composer ever to have lived.
