About Educate, Not Mutilate

Educate Not Mutilate (ENM) is a constituted group of women who passionately believe Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) can and will be brought to an end. We want to see a world where women have full autonomy over their bodies and where women and girls are not subject to violence and mutilation. A survivor-led group, Educate Not Mutilate focuses on how gender-based violence affects women’s health and what can be done to prevent it.Prior to setting up ENM Hibo Wardere (Co Founder) worked with the UK Government to ensure FGM awareness was a mandatory part of the education curriculum across England and Wales. While this is now a requirement in schools, many schools do not have the expertise or resources to teach this subject.We set up ENM, in part, to help fill the gap in schools that are struggling with budget cuts and social issues and to educate professionals about about this practice.
