Ellie's Wish To Walk

My name is Ellie-Louise is 9 yrears old and was born at 29 weeks and I weighed just 2ib 12oz. As I was getting bigger I could not do the things other children could and my parents took me to the doctors. I was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy. One of the symtoms I have is my muscles are very tight and painful. I cannot walk by myself and use a wheelchair. I have a walking frame that I can use for a little while but my legs get very painful and tired. A few months ago my parents were made aware of procedure called "Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy" (sdr) that involves surgery on my spinal cord. This operation is in America and is carried out by Dr Parks a top neurosurgeon at St Louis Childrens Hospital Missouri, he has carried out over 2000 operations with 100% success rate. This operation cost about £45000. This operation will give me the chance to have a near normal life without the pain and tightness in my legs and hopefully let me have the chance to take my first steps. I would love to be able to wear pretty girly shoes and ride a horse but at the moment I can't do either. PLEASE HELP ME REACH MY TARGET My surgery has been booked for March 2012, so we need all the help we can get.
