Fundraiser for Down Syndrome Association for London Marathon 2024 Charlotte Cutbill

My older brother has Down Syndrome, and throughout his 28 years of life so far he has had to face the most demanding challenges that no one should have to witness. Right from a young age, he embraces both physical and mental challenges as well as surpassing the subconscious bias that the general public sometimes has. I couldn’t be prouder of the incredible young man he has become; he really is the light in my darknessEveryone in the world that has Down Syndrome really are the kindest people I know. If you have been lucky enough to meet my brother and his friends, you will know they are the strongest, funniest and most caring group of young people.My brother Sam will continue to face challenges for the rest of his life, it is a simple fact of this world. However charities such as Down Syndrome Association help make his footprint in the world that bit stronger. Even throughout the global pandemic, they utilised online meeting resources to ensure everyone stays connected. Quite simply, these charities allow Sam to have the life that each and every one of us has. He is able to enjoy the simple things that we take for granted such as seeing friends regularly, going to a club in the evening and going bowling.Without charities like Down Syndrome Association, young children, teenagers and adults are denied their right to a way of life that we take as ‘normal’. I hope to raise money to ensure that this charity becomes the beacon of light in someone else’s life.
