About Kingfishers Mental Health CIC

Our aim is to work in the local borough with service users over the age 18 with a focus on 18-30 year olds. Initially we would focus on life skills, understanding the needs of each individual by working on a one to one basis. Giving us an understanding of their emotional and well being requirements. By doing this will give us an understanding if they are work place ready. After been closed now for 3 months, we know now that our members do not fit in to any other commissioned services. We are looking for funding to keep King Fishers Farm building open as there is no other service in New Addington. We feel the service that are now being offered is pushing their recovery backwards as they don’t feel empowered to do things for themselves which was very much encouraged in the Service User Led Groups. There are no other service like this in the New Addington area. We feel we provided a unique user led group to empower their recovery which has proven to work as many of our service users are now able to complete daily tasks more independently. We have a diverse contacts list with NHS mental health teams and homes. Liz Geary from Integrated Community Networks invited us to attend their NHS huddles across the borough to do presentation on our service to their social subscribing team to signpost their referrals as they felt no one in the borough provided a service like ours. We worked with SLAM’s COAST and OASIS teams who referred young people that came through their service while we were increasing our service for our young people’s group. This service is aimed at 18–35-year-olds, which we were getting weekly referrals from the teams pre pandemic. The building that we have in New Addington has great facilities including games, computer, cinema room, full functioning kitchen for service users to learn cooking and life skills, washing machine, tumble dryer and shower for those that need the facilities. The building does require minor repairs but is functional at present. We have a large overgrown garden which is crying out for a project which we have plans to work with Wildlife London to get it kick started.

"There's quite a few sites similar to easyfundraising. But where this site stands out is it's helpful & quick replies to queries. It is so easy to set up an account & to start saving for a good cause - I've recommended easyfundraising to a lot of my friends, and they're as impressed as I am with the ease of how it works."

"I run a not for profit Community Interest Company and shared our cause. Very easy to use, templates ready to share on social media, with direct links to our page and pop up reminders installed for when I was shopping with numerous websites, where I could gain the free donation. Excellent service and a fabulous idea."
