London Youth Federation- Student Trust Fund

The Student Trust Fund was set up in response to a number of events hosted by the London Youth Federation of the Seventh Day Adventist Church throughout the course of 2006. They included the ‘Put It Down’ anti-gun crime public campaign held in December in Brixton Town Hall; and ‘Hit London’, a project which provides young people with the chance to preach the Gospel in light of current events at various venues across London. A number of those participants have now gone on to study Theology and have participated in Mission trips across the continent of Africa and Thailand. It soon became clear that within our midst we have a great resource which is ‘hungry’ to achieve great things and make significant changes if given the opportunity: young people. However financial support was required to help them attain these academic and career goals. The conclusion reached was that as a community we needed to pull our resources together no matter how little and support our young people. Thus the motto was formed for the STF: Let’s Invest, Inspire and Excel Together. As well as providing financial support to young people who wish to pursue further education, the STF is embarking on a mentoring program which will reach youth in disadvantaged areas of London. Members of the STF will also be able to provide applicants with work experience or assistance with CV’s once they graduate.
