About Lynton and Barnstaple Railway Trust

Originally open from 1898 to 1935, Woody Bay is just the start of an exciting project to rebuild one of the World's most famous narrow gauge railways. With over 3000 members worldwide, the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Trust is determined to reinstate all of the 19-mile line. Our Heritage train comprises LYN - a 2017-built replica of the original 1898 Baldwin loco - hauling up to 5 original restored carriages, and we are working hard to bring the next section back into use as soon as possible...
