Marple Men In Sheds

Marple Men In Sheds came from Marple Community Woodcraft our Parent Community Project which encompasses all age groups and genders, we hope to provide workshops for women and other age groups in the future. Presently we are running a Wednesday session from 12-4pm for Men over 19+ in the community who want to come and participate in community projects, or make something for themselves, or just have a brew and a chat, the camaraderie naturally happens! The workshop is a furniture makers during the rest of the week, therefore we concentrate on woodworking, Kelly Furniture is already recycling waste plywood and pallets from local businesses, access to plywood and pallet wood is key to making the shed function and thrive. It’s important to us to repurpose and upcycle wood into useful items in the community, which would never happen otherwise. We can accommodate 12 people comfortably, which is the average attendance weekly. With more funding we could expand. Some of our community projects include a bench, planters and picnic table for the Guides, a planter for a care home, a Waterwall for a primary school, 2 mud kitchens for a nursery, 2 toy storage bins for a school, a book library for a church and a christmas tree frame to hang knitted branches on for a church.
