Camps International Cambodia 2026 - Maisie Johnson

Hello my name is Maisie Johnson, I'm 14 years old, I go to King edmund school and have always had a passion for travel. Recently I have been offered a life changing opportunity to volunteer through Camps International. Camps International is a global organisation that tackles housing, welfare, health care, sanitation, education and training. I'm excited to have enrolled, my trip is to Cambodia in 2026. Cambodia suffered mass genocide during the 70s and has a massive affect on it's people and the economy still to this day, the country is far from recovered. On my trip i will be working with local people and families doing my best to help to make their lives easier by helping restore and rebuild schools, helping to make water wells so they have easier access to water, planting trees and much more to help the local communities. This trip will also educate me and show me a different culture and help me have a deeper understanding of the challenges the cambodian people face. I'm hoping this trip will benefit me in many ways and improve my confidence. I aiming to raise £5000 to make this trip possible, I'm hoping to raise this money through go-fund-me and other fundraising events, like sponsored runs/walks.
