About Orla's Malaysia Expedition

Hi, I am raising funds for an expedition to Malaysia in July 2026 where I will be working with a local turtle conservation charity (www.turtleconservationsociety.org.my) in Chukai to catalogue and protect the nesting sites of leatherback and green turtles. I will also be planting trees to preserve the mangrove swamp habitat for fresh water turtles. I will be undertaking a three day hike in the Cameron Highlands starting in the tea plantations and continuing through the jungle where we will be camping under bashas in hammocks and cooking Malay dishes on a wood fire in bamboo utensils. The expedition is structured to improve my life skills when travelling including risk assessment, budgeting and booking accommodation and local transport between locations.
