World Challenge India 2019 - Owen Kennedy

During the summer of 2019 I will be taking part in a World Challenge Event, arriving in Delhi, travelling north and trekking through the Indian Himalayas. The event is an opportunity for me to experience differing cultures and landscapes and also to develop my skills in research, planning, teamwork, money management and communication in readiness for life at university and subsequent employment. During my trip I will be working on a charitable project that enriches the local area, spending 5-7 days working alongside a local community. The project will offer me the chance to contribute something meaningful back to a local area. I will be based in rural and remote village where I will live and interact with local people, working alongside them to complete a project such as renovating school facilities; building additional school classrooms, dormitories or toilet blocks; establishing a clean water supply; designing playgrounds; planting vegetable gardens; mending or putting up fencing; building traditional housing for vulnerable members of a community etc.
