Progressio works to help people in developing countries gain power over their lives and overcome barriers that keep them poor We don’t impose solutions. We ask people what needs to change – and then we give them the right help so they can make it happen. We bring skills, ideas and expertise on three key areas of poverty and injustice: governance, environment and HIV. Poor people empowered to transform their lives. That’s our vision. People powered development is how we will make it happen – inspired by our values of respect, solidarity, passion and boldness. We work in post-conflict countries, where people are struggling to overcome poverty and rebuild lives in the shadow of previous conflict and present-day instability: El Salvador, Nicaragua, Somaliland, Timor-Leste and Zimbabwe. We work in countries where inequality is entrenched and poverty, for many people, is extreme: Honduras, Malawi, Peru and Yemen. In the Dominican Republic, we help tackle the discrimination faced by people of Haitian descent, and we work in Haiti to help rebuild lives and communities after the 2010 earthquake.
