The forests of Madagascar are being cut down at an immeasurable rate. Being one of the worlds poorest countries, day to day survival is dependent upon natural resources. Day by day, the islands biodiversity is drastically reduced due to forest fires, poaching, natural disasters and deforestation. Something has to be done. In the summer of 2018, I'll be travelling to Madagascar for two weeks with Operation Wallacea to help the crisis ongoing in Madagascar. Operation Wallacea (known as Opwall) is an organisation that runs a series of biological and conservation management research programmes operating in remote locations across the world, with a strong focus on making a difference to the local environment and people. The objectives for the Opwall research programme are to monitor how forest structure and biodiversity change over time to prevent deforestation from destroying the wildlife forever.
