About Operation Wallacea Mexico 2017 - Ruari Henderson

The Calakmul Biosphere Reserve in Mexico contains diverse and abundant wildlife such as jaguar, puma, Bairds tapir, and spider monkey in addition to over 90 species of herpetofauna, 50 species of bat, and 360 resident bird species. The data collected by students is being used to monitor the efficacy of these community projects in protecting the forest and its wildlife. The Operation Wallacea monitoring data will also increase our understanding of the abundance, diversity and distribution of key taxa in the reserve.
