About Sarah's Rural Library Fund

We support The Rural Libraries Project in the high Andes of Northern Peru. This is an inspiring community based organisation run entirely by volunteers from the indigenous community. Volunteer librarians carry books in backpacks to libraries which are kept in people's houses. There are 45 co-ordinators, 500 libraries and 74,000 registered readers. They have published 130 different books developing literacy, equality and education, as well as preserving the cultural identity of the community.
