When you read the description below, you will understand why we are always looking for fundraising ways to help keep this beautiful church in good repair, so that future generations can continue to worship here, and enjoy it as much as those from the past have, and as much as we do now.Tucked away in a bend in the River Arun, close to the Arun Valley railway, is the tiny village of South Stoke. Overlooking the river is the parish church. Built in the 11th century, this tiny flint church has been a sacred place for almost a thousand years.For much of its history, St Leonard's stood on its own as a parish church, celebrating the sacraments and preaching the gospel to nearby farm workers and their families. Since the 1920s, however, the parish has been joined with the neighbouring parish of Arundel.There are regular services held at the church throughout the year. Only, make sure you wrap up in winter, as apart from the dozens of candles lighting the church, there's no heating.St Leonard's is always open to visitors. Admittedly, it is off the beaten track, and yet, those who are prepared to make the effort, won't be disappointed.
