The League of Remembrance

As a charity with over 100 years of experience we know that supporting people in need is not just about giving them things, but about them also participating in their future. Our beneficiaries, veterans, their families, and retired nursing staff, volunteer in hospitals and many other community organisations such as foodbanks, charity shops, and the CWGC. In return for this community service we support them financially, look after their welfare, and lay on social events to celebrate their achievements, and strengthen our family bonds. Our beneficiaries are called Remembrance Workers, as through their volunteering we remember the sacrifices they have made for their country and community. We call our charitable model 'Helping People, To Help Themselves, By Helping Others'. In addition, we are now helping young disabled adults to find employment, by funding training in service and catering skills; and have recently supported the purchase of a new pony for disabled children to ride in a London-based Riding For The Disabled Organisation. Other recent support has assisted an organisation that helps both serving soldiers and veterans to cope with, and manage, PTSD through equine therapy; a blind Afghan interpreter who won 4 gold medals at the last Invictus Games: a project to improve servicemen and womens cognitive skills at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre; and assistance for a voluntary organisation that maintains the gardens at the former Haslar Naval Hospital.
