About Tokyo Fieldwork 2024

I am fundraising towards an environmental field research project in Tokyo surveying the quality and ecological health of the city's rivers. In Tokyo, many urban rivers have been sewerised or covered over the last century, with remaining rivers being heavily managed to prevent flood risk. These interventions disrupt river functioning and impact ecology. With freshwater species such as the Koi fish so important to national identity, it is important to understand the health of remaining rivers.
